RE; KYNETON HUB/TOWN SQUARE PROPOSAL

As a local musician, band leader and instrument maker I welcome the prospect of using the old Kyneton Primary School site for ongoing community purposes.

For three years I have been leading the Kyneton Street Band from another adequate but out-of-the-way location. We would happily make the KPS site our base, subject to financial considerations.

For over twenty years I have been running six-day harp-making workshops from my own workshop (limited space) and in various locations interstate. These could easily be run in the KPS buildings. The ideal space would be similar to class-room size, with power, good light, and up to six solid workbenches (preferably with woodwork vices). I also have a number of shorter workshops developed for schools and festivals which could be run there on weekends or school holidays e.g. marimba-making, flutes, whistles etc.

I have been involved with the Lost Trades Fair in Kyneton since its inception, exhibiting harp-making and programming all sorts of music performances. I recognize the potential for the KPS site to continue and enhance Kyneton’s “brand” as a centre of such trade excellence.

Yours etc.,
