Ian MacBean OAM, BSc, PhD, Dip Ed is a retired academic with senior management experience and has held many regional board appointments.
He was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for ‘services to town and regional planning and to the environment’ in 1993 and a La Trobe University Distinguished Alumni Award in 2008
Dr MacBean was appointed Chair of the North Central Catchment Management Authority by the State Minister for Water and Chair of the Central Victorian Area Consultative Committee by the Federal Minister for Regional Development. He was appointed to the Community Support Fund Advisory Council by the Premier of Victoria.
He was Chairman of the Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance; Director of Sustainable Regional Australia P/L and a member of the Central Victorian Community Foundation.
Founding Director, Central Victorian Regional Enterprise Network P/L (now Work Space Australia, a highly successful small business incubator) and later Chairman.
Earlier appointments include Chairman, Bendigo Regional Development Board (encompassing 5 municipalities pre-amalgamation); fifteen-year member of Bendigo Senior Secondary College Council; member of the Loddon Murray Community Alliance; and community member, Loddon Campaspe Regional Planning Authority.
Since retiring to Trentham, Dr MacBean has been President of the Trentham Residents and Traders Association Inc.; led the Trentham Community Planning initiative and authored its first plan; established the Trentham Community Groups FORUM the peak representation and advocacy body for the town; and chaired the Trentham & Districts Community Bank Steering Committee and later the Board following successful establishment of the Bank.
Ian MacBean is a member of the Kyneton and District Town Square Co-op.
